$10,000 Kick for Cash at Weyburn’s Epic Rider Pride Party

Weyburn Rider Nation (WRN) is celebrating their top five finish in the Saskatchewan Roughriders “Where is Riderville?” contest by hosting the Epic Rider Pride Party.

The event will take place at Jubilee Park on August 5 from 5 to 10 p.m.

The event will include live music, entertainment, food, games and guest appearances.

“Bring your lawn chair, sit back and let us entertain you,” said WRN co-chair Rochelle Wendt. “The centrepiece of our entertainment for the evening is the $10,000 Kick for Cash contest.”

During the event, five names will be drawn for the Kick for Cash contest. Those five will participate in a football skills competition which will determine one finalist. The finalist will receive a $1,000 gift certificate from New Age Motorsports and the opportunity to kick a 50-yard field goal for $10,000.

Participants must enter their names online at www.weyburnridernation.com. The contest is open to anyone in Saskatchewan.

Also on the 5th, there will be free swimming at the Weyburn Leisure Centre from 1 to 5 p.m. and water football games and prizes awarded for best Rider Pride costumes.

The “Where is Riderville?” selection committee will be in Weyburn on August 5 to gather video footage for their website. Online voting for the contest takes place August 13 to 31 at www.riderville.com.

Other top five communities include Avonlea, Nipawin, Unity and Yorkton.

WRN co-chair Nicole Wendt said that Weyburn residents need to show their Rider Pride outside of the city, too.

“Wear your WRN gear when you’re in other cities and then tell them about us,” said Nicole. “Yorkton is bigger than us so it’s going to take more than just Weyburn to vote for us.”

Rochelle wanted to remind residents to vote online for Weyburn everyday beginning on August 13.

Rochelle and Nicole will also be giving CTV News a tour of Weyburn’s Rider Pride on August 3.
