Second Bakken Run successful

Several participants ran in the second annual Bakken Run on August 21. The event raised $3,000 for the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation.

The second annual Bakken Run was a success in Weyburn, featuring nearly twice as many participants than its debut year.

The run, which featured five-kilometre and 10-kilometre run options, had 53 participants come out, which was up from 32 participants last year.

“Due to the increased interest in the run this year, we were able to raise $3,000 for the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation Inc. through entry fees, donations, and sponsorship,” said event organizer Lacey Johnson, Weyburn Tourism.

The run left Assiniboia Park Elementary School at 9:30 a.m. on August 21.
