Saskatchewan Summer Games conclude

The Southeast Connection Sport, Culture & Recreation District is very proud of Team Southeast, coming home from the 2012 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Meadow Lake with 72 medals in total.

This week-long multi-sport event proved to be an experience and opportunity that our athletes, coaches and managers will never forget! Team Southeast earned 20 GOLD medals, 25 SILVER medals and 27 BRONZE medals. Team Southeast had the second highest medal count out of all nine participating Districts, with Team Regina earning the highest medal count at a total of 113 medals.

Overall, Team Southeast excelled in archery, canoe/kayak, equestrian, athletics and swimming. Our baseball and softball teams did very well coming home with silver in softball and bronze in baseball.

The Southeast Connection Board of Directors and Staff would like to thank all coaches, managers and mission staff for dedicating their time before, during and after the games. Without these volunteers, athletes would not have the opportunity to compete at this sporting event. The district would also like to congratulate each athlete for their dedication and sportsmanship. Whatever the outcome was of the sport, it is our hope that each and every participant had fun and enjoyed their experience at the Games! The Saskatchewan Games final results can be found at saskgames.ca.
