Southeast Connections offering free course

A 'High Five Quest 2' workshop is being offered to organizations that provide programming for children. Whether volunteer or paid staff, supervisors of children's programs can attend for free on January 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at a location in Stoughton. The registration deadline is January 16 and space is limited. This event is free to individuals living within the south east district boundaries.

Southeast Connection Sport, Culture & Recreation District, in partnership with the Saskatchewan Parks & Recreation Association, provides tools, training and resources to help organizations improve and measure the quality of their programs for children, 6 to 12 years of age, through HIGH FIVEŽ. This one-day workshop will help supervisors improve the quality of children's programs by learning how to measure it with the HIGH FIVEŽ scientifically-validated tool.

Organizations, such as recreation boards/departments, libraries, sport clubs, cultural groups, youth organizations/centres, youth camp providers, would benefit from this training. Implementing the HIGH FIVE program in your organization will improve children's lives and provide them with leadership, opportunities and environments they need to gain a positive sense of self-worth. This will enable them to make healthy choices as they move through life.

To register, or for more information, contact Joni Hagen, Southeast Connection Executive Director, at 842-2188.
