We had the privilege of spending the Christmas celebration with our son-in-law, daughter, and sons who are 6 and 2 totally full of vim and vigour. When we got there the youngest had the flu so he was pretty lethargic and we were doing a lot of clean up after him, BUT after two days of laying around it was full speed ahead, trying to make up for lost time. The six o'clock mornings jumping on our bed "Papa", "Papa" get up it's time to play hockey, cars, boxing, whatever was full of life and going. Every morning we had to hit the floor ready to run for the next 12 hours and then calm would come. The interesting part was as we were playing, the discussions and
verbal interactions that occurred and the wisdom of a 6 year old and the frustration of a 2 year old learning to talk. The 2 year old knew what he wanted to do and would try and do it and even show me but didn't have the complete words to explain it. But after spending day after day with him I learned his language and pointings. What a lesson I learned. I was thinking about Christmas , the birth of Jesus Christ , why He came to earth,
and how we have turned the celebration of His birth into more of, "Do you have a present for me". The more time I spent with my grandson's, the better I got to know them, and that is what I have to do with Jesus. He has given us His Word the bible to know how He thinks about us, along with many promises, that if we believe Him and accept Him into our lives, how He will help us. We took our 6 year old grandson to church with us when we were there at Easter time, he commented on the way home that God was so lucky, His Son Jesus was dead and then came alive again, He was so lucky to have His kid back. I thought, how true is that, the same is true for us we dead in our sin but Jesus died for us so that we could be alive in Him. So cheer up, even though it's -30 outside, we can be warm inside, knowing that Jesus was born so we could have life and that more abundantly.
From a 6 year old's philosophy, "We are so lucky", from a much older perspective, we are so blessed. Enjoy your blessing and spend some time to get to know HIM. God bless you.
