Beavers round out coaching staff

The Weyburn Beavers ball club is pleased to announce that four-year veteran of the Beavers of the Western Baseball Major League (WMBL) and 2012 First Team All-Star, Derek Wallace, has signed on as Assistant Coach for the 2013 season.

As a player Derek (known as Wally) was hard-nosed, dedicated and came to play every day no matter the circumstance - he led the team by example. The Beavers will certainly miss him on the field but know that his leadership qualities will be an asset in his new role as assistant coach.

With Phil Curtis previously announced as Head Coach and primarily looking after the pitching staff, we needed a person that could work the position players and complement Coach Curtis. Derek is all that and more. With two former Beaver players Curtis and Wallace now leading the team as coaches, our organization is extremely excited about the 2013 season. With the player roster filled, our team is certainly looking to make a statement around the league that the Beavers are now in a position to compete each and every game against all the teams in the league.

The Beavers first game and home opener is on May 31. Season tickets and mini packs are now available from Beaver executive. I urge fans to get their tickets and come out for what should be a great summer of WMBL baseball in Weyburn.
