JAMS supports Wor-Kin Shop

(L-R) Jen Symes of the JAMS Family presented Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop program participants Cass Simpson, Wendy Smith, Stephanie Guest and Doug Frijouf with a donation of $1,600, which was the proceeds from the 2012 JAMS Family Christmas Dinner.

The JAMS Family Christmas Day Dinner organization recently donated $1,600 to the non-profit agency's new Day Program Building fund.

"The JAMS Family, consisting of Sandy Johnson and her three daughters Jen, Ali and Mikki, have been doing this for the last nine years," said Andria Brady, executive director of Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop Corp. "We are very thankful for this contribution to our fundraising efforts, which is just another example of the ongoing generosity found within our community."

All funds raised will go towards the agency's goal of raising $500,000 in order to begin construction on their new Day Program facility, which will be located at 808 First Avenue northwest.

"Our total committed funds have now surpassed $200,000. The Ministry of Social Services recently advised that we need to raise the entire $500,000 before construction can begin," noted Brady. "With the escalation in construction costs, we are still optimistic that a spring/summer 2013 start can happen, with the support of the citizens and businesses in Weyburn."
