Operation Crossroads results in 422 tickets

More than 400 motorists received tickets last week during a province-wide traffic safety blitz targeting traffic safety at intersections.

Operation Crossroads, which was held February 14 and 15 across the province of Saskatchewan, involved law enforcement watching motorists and pedestrians for violations such as failing to yield to pedestrians or oncoming traffic, disobeying stop signs or traffic lights and jaywalking.

In total, 422 tickets were issued, including 147 for disobeying red lights/stop signs, three for failing to yield to pedestrians, 15 for pedestrians disobeying walk signal, 53 cellphone violations, 61 seatbelt violations, 78 speeding violations, seven for prohibited driving, one for impaired driving and 57 various other infractions.

Last month, 168 motorists across the province were ticketed during January's Operation Hang Up, Buckle Up traffic safety blitz, which focused on non-seatbelt use and distracted driving.
