WJH ‘B’ basketball team wins district championship

The Weyburn Junior High boys 'B' basketball team travelled to Oxbow for districts on March 7, where they defeated Oxbow 45 to 19 to advance to the final.

Nicholas Cuthbert led Weyburn with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Austin Neiszner had 8 points and pulled down 23 rebounds in the win.

In the gold medal game, the Cobras found themselves up against St.Mikes Tigers and were able to come away with a 46-21 victory, again Nicholas Cuthbert led the way scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds, Austin Neiszner added 12 points as well as 18 rebounds, Connor Lafoy also chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds.

This year's team was made up of 14 players, who competed in several exhibition games and also attended the Gladmar tournament where they were ‘A’ side champions. The team had a very successful season, which saw them go undefeated.
