Traffic blitz tickets 282 drivers

Law enforcement ticketed more than 280 motorists during Operation Hang Up Buckle Up, including 185 for cellphone and seatbelt violations. The traffic safety blitz, held March 14 and 15 across the province, focused on cellphone use while driving and improper or non-seatbelt use.

A total of 282 tickets were issued, including 84 cellphone violations, 101 seatbelt violations and 97 other traffic violations such as impaired driving, speeding and disobeying stop signs/traffic lights.

February's Operation Crossroads blitz, targeting traffic safety at intersections, resulted in 422 tickets province-wide.
