Whenever I hear the song of Whitney Houston, "I Will Always Love You," I am struck by the power and the passion of that song. The song tells a story of human love. In the relationship between the man and woman there has been trouble and a separation. Despite the difficulties, the woman sings, in such an amazing voice, "I will always love you."
Love is so important in life and some people are loved so much and others are for the most part neglected. Knowing that we are loved and supported gives us strength. Love, support and encouragement make such a difference in a person's life. And those who don't receive much love often find themselves in difficult circumstances.
The song speaks of a human love that will go on and on. Human love is frail and it often stumbles and falls. But human love is a dim reflection of God's love that truly endures forever. In John 3:16 we read that, God so loved the world that He gave His only son. God loves the world, all of the nature and beauty that He created. He also loves the people that He created, with all their faults and shortcomings, and, He loves you.
But so many people don't have a sense of God's deep love. Being told that God loves us is not the same thing as experiencing and deeply feeling His love for us.
Why not find a copy of this song and listen to the words in a new way. It tells of the ongoing love of a woman for a man. But behind this human love is God's love. Listen to the song in a new way and hear the voice of God, speaking directly to you, "I will always love you." God's love for you is vast, it is never ending but what is needed is for you to feel some of that love for you. Listen to Whitney's beautiful and strong voice but also hear God's promise of His deep love for you, "I Will Always Love You."
