Chamber of Commerce announce 2014 Weybex Awards

The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce kicked off the 2014 Weybex Awards November 26 at the Weyburn Co-op Metro Centre. Sponsoring the New or Expanded Business is Sunrise Community Futures represented by Verna O'Neil. Don Kraft, representing Weyburn Co-op Association is the sponsor of the Business of the Year. New Age Electronics, represented by Jeff Chessall sponsors the Business Hall of Fame and the Business Leader of the Year is sponsored by Cenovus Energy, represented by Twila Walkeden. SaskEnergy sponsors the Community Involvement award.

The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce 2014 Weybex Awards will be held May 23 at McKenna Hall.

These biennial awards celebrate business success in Weyburn and surrounding area and are open to businesses, organizations and individuals in the city.

Categories for the Weybex Awards are Business of the Year; Business Leader of the Year; Golden Service; Community Involvement; New or Expanded Business; and Business Hall of Fame.

The Business of the Year Award, sponsored by the Weyburn Co-op Association, nominations are open to businesses operating in Weyburn for at least three years as of December 31, 2013.

Nominations for Business Leader of the Year, sponsored by Cenovus Energy, are open to a person who exemplifies the qualities of a business visionary.

The Golden Service Award, sponsored by MNP, recognizes a local business demonstrating outstanding customer service and hospitality.

Sponsored by Sunrise Community Futures, the New or Expanded Business Award is presented to a business established or expanded in the past two years and demonstrates exceptional performance in a number of categories.

Sponsored by SaskEnergy, the Community Involvement Award is presented to a business demonstrating outstanding performance in contributing to recreation, amateur sports, arts and culture, education, charitable or non-profit groups and business development and promotion in the city.

New Age Electronics sponsors the Business Hall of Fame Award. This award recognizes pioneer and cornerstone business leaders demonstrating long term excellence and contributing to the economic well being of Weyburn and area.

"These awards give the community a chance to support and recognize business and individual excellence in Weyburn. The sponsors and once again eager to support this event which will showcase the very best of what our business community has to offer," said Chamber of Commerce Manager Jeff Richards.

With the overwhelming success of the inaugural Weybex Awards in 2004, Richards says they are expecting even more nominations and another successful awards evening.

The deadline for nominations is April 30, 2014.
