Hurry Hard

Ministerial Moment

These words are heard often this week, as Canada watches the men's and women's curling team play-downs to represent us at the 2014 Olympics. In fact, these words are coming to you from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Section 117 Row 13 Seat 8!

"Hurry hard" made me think of the message to the angels and the shepherds- Don't miss the big event!- the birth of the Saviour of the world! The location is unusual, and very secluded, but if you're paying attention, you can't miss it! Follow the star! But get going, it's about to happen! This is already the second week of Advent, the month when all signs point to the big event!

Yet there were those magi, those wise men who had such a long way to travel that it is figured they might have been up to two years late for the great gathering. Yet even they were not too late! For they were given a special star, an ancient-day Global Positioning System, to get them to the very place. And despite all attempts to distract them, they too made it in time.

Everybody's attention was called to the big event, each in their own way and in their own time, but nobody was left out. Nobody was ignored. All were invited to be there. And so are we, today, told: "You gotta be there!" Hope you will join us to worship the Child born to be King, your Saviour and mine, Jesus Christ the Lord. Whether you find Him in church every Sunday of Advent, or you save your visit for the Christmas Eve Service, please come-You've just gotta be there!
