"The simple truth is that if you had a mere kernel of faith, a poppy seed, say, you would tell this mountain, 'Move!' and it would move. There is nothing you wouldn't be able to tackle." (Matthew 17:20, The message)
Mark 9:17-27 the disciples had tried praying over a boy who was possessed by an evil spirit, but their prayers had no effect. The crowd waited to see how Jesus would handle the situation. Jesus questioned the boy's father about his condition and got a "please, if you can do anything" response. If Jesus could do anything.
What amazes me is that even though I serve the God who created the universe, I still find myself saying "if." What's more amazing is, God knows this and so he provides me with opportunities to step out and experience the miraculous even when I'm not feeling it. Case in point is my friends back was causing him a lot of pain to the point that he could hardly move, I felt God telling me to pray for his back so I asked if I could prayed over it. As I prayed he immediately felt something in his back causing relief. The next day he felt even better . Anytime the miraculous takes place, a "giant" dies, his giant was his back pain.
As a believers my lifestyle is about trusting in God's love and then obeying regardless of the risk. It's about living in a way where we constantly cry: "I believe, help my unbelief." God is always inviting us to surrender and step into challenging scenarios so that he can uniquely use us to advance his kingdom.
In which situations am I most tempted to say "if" to God?
