Weyburn Duplicate Bridge report

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club held its annual Christmas social with a turkey dinner followed by bridge on December 16 and seven tables played. Sitting North/South Bernie and Don Dufour finished in first place; Gord Bell and Jerry Thiessen placed second; and Jo Wollner and Gord Freeden came third. Sitting East/West Jim Brown and George Gillies took top honours and they also were first overall to give them the designation of Club Champions; Andy Dumba and Carmen Villness placed second; and Marg Marinos and Audrey came third.

In regular play, on December 2 four tables played and taking first were Warren Betker and Jim Brown; placing second were Marg Marinos and Audrey Warawa who edged out Bernie Dufour and Marg Stewart who were third.

December 5 had four and a half tables and in first place were Barry Mactaggart and Lucie Nickel; in second place were Gord Bell and Warren Betker; in third place were Bernie Dufour and Marg Stewart; and in fourth were John Whitell and Chuck Widdis.

With four tables playing on December 9, there was a tie for first between Lucie Nickel and Andy Dumba and Barry Mactaggart and Marg Stewart, who were followed by Lydia and Fred Milleker in third.

On December 12, with three tables playing, John Whitell and Chuck Widdis finished first, while Jim Brown and George Gillies were second.

Two tables played on December 19 and in first place were Diane and Gord Bell, while Marion Brown and Annie Balzer placed second.

December 23 had three tables and Jim Brown and George Gillies were first place finishers, while Diane and Gord Bell placed second.

The last game of 2013 was held on December 30 and three tables played with Barry Mactaggart and Fred Milleker taking top honours, and Lydia Milleker and Lucie Nickel finishing in second place.

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club meets Monday evenings at 7 p.m. and Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. during the winter at Weyburn Senior Centre. All interested bridge players are welcome to come to play this format of bridge.
