The Weyburn Red Wings are taking flight nearing the end of the season with seven straight wins.
The Wings defeated the Estevan Bruins Tuesday night with a 4-3 overtime win and notching back to back shut outs at home over the weekend.
Coach Bryce Thoma said the team is really playing well and is hoping to continue the streak they are on.
"They are working, competing and putting in effort. They're really playing with confidence," said Thoma.
In Estevan, the Wings started the scoring with Brendan McKay finding the back of the net early in the first period, which was answered by Estevan later on.
Matt Eng scored at 3:22 of the second period off the stick of Brian Farkas. Jacob Jeske banked the third goal of the game from Ty McLean.
Estevan came back in the third period scoring a goal on a power play and another at 18:38, to tie the game and send it into overtime.
Three minutes into the overtime period, Cody Pettapiece fed Nick Pouliot the puck who scored the winning goal.
Red Wing goalie Rylan Parenteau took first star of the game in the two games over the weekend with shut out wins. The first game February 1 against the Flin Flon Bombers was a 6-0 decision while the February 2 game was a 1-0 win against Melfort.
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League named Parenteau, goaltender of the week. The Red Wings netminder averages 34.6 shots against per game, through 33 games.
The Wings travel to meet the Notre Dame Hounds tonight and return to Crescent Point Place for their second match up of the weekend Saturday, February 8. Puck drops at 7:30.
