Leading the team with a batting average of .329, last year's Weyburn Beavers catcher will be returning to the ball club as an assistant coach for the 2014 season.
Chris Manning, a Las Vegas native, lead the team with seven home runs and 38 RBIs bringing passion, dedication and knowledge to each game played. These assets, Manning will teach through coaching to the 2014 team.
Manning is currently finishing a degree at Doane College as well as helping coach their varsity team in Crete, Nebraska.
Phil Curtis is returning for his second season as head coach and primarily looking after the pitching staff. With two former Beaver players Curtis and Manning leading the team as coaches, the Beavers organization is extremely excited about the 2014 season said Beavers President Garnet Hansen.
"The team is certainly looking to make a statement around the league that the Beavers are now in a position to compete each and every game against all the teams in the league," said Hansen
The Beavers first game and home opener is on May 30.
