Weyburn Southern Range Gold Wings forward Paige Smith takes the puck up the ice for a shot on the Regina Rebels net. The Gold Wings defeated the Rebels 3-1 in the game and 3-1 in the series to take the title of Saskatchewan Provincial Champions. The Gold Wings now face the Pembina Valley Hawks in a best of three series to be played out this weekend at Crescent Point Place.

After winning the provincial championship, the Weyburn Southern Range Gold Wings are getting set to meet the Manitoba Champions, the Pembina Valley Hawks in a best-of-three series.

The Gold Wings battled their way to league champs taking the series against the Regina Rebels three games to one.

In Game 4 of the series, played March 29 at Crescent Point Place, the Southern Range Gold Wings defeated the Rebels 3-1.

Scoring started with Bailee Bourassa's goal at 7:25 of the first period from Cassidy Pirlot and Asten Sinclair.

In the second period, Jenica Whitrow hit the back of the net from teammate Bourassa. The Rebels scored with 1:56 left in the period.

The third goal came unassisted from Madison Colbow.

"It was a lot of hard work. Basically we stuck to our plan and the girls excuted it perfectly," said Head Coach Chad Kish.

The Gold Wings will host the Pembina Valley Hawks at Crescent Point place this weekend.

"They're a good team. They've won the national championship before so they know what to expect. We're not taking them lightly by any means," said Kish.

The first game will go at 7:45 tonight, followed by game 2 at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 and if necessary, the third game will go Sunday at 3 p.m.

The winner of this serie will go on to the Esso Cup to represent the west in Hamilton April 20-26.
