Ministerial Moment

Not too long ago, in a discussion with someone, I received a bit of a chew out. It made me feel bad, upset and after some time, I was a bit angry. I stayed angry for 2 or 3 days. I realized that the incident was not all that important, I got over it, but part of getting over it was forgiving. It isn't always easy to forgive. But not forgiving is costly. Anger is destructive in the human body if it continues over time, and friendships can be lost and relationships can be damaged. It is sometimes easy to let negative thoughts and feelings go round and round in your head. What I dealt with was a minor offense and I am a pastor and I teach about forgiveness. Forgiveness isn't easy for many of us, perhaps all of us. Jesus taught His people to pray. Forgive us each day, as we forgive others each day. We need to think about forgiving every day. Every day we need to ask God to help us forgive. Forgiveness comes from God. A spirit of forgiveness is the spirit of Jesus who gave His life to forgive us our sins and to teach us how to forgive others. May God help us all to forgive what others have done to us and to be forgiven.
