If you could do one thing to make the world a better place AND get paid for it, what would you do? If you can answer this question, you are a long way down the path to discovering your calling in life. If you are actually DOING what you love AND are getting paid for it, you are truly blessed.

Unfortunately, most of us are so caught up working and paying bills that we can't ask these questions. And that's too bad. It's too bad because we are missing out. THE WORLD is missing out.

The Bible tells us, in Ephesians 2:10 that, "…we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Which means that there are needs out there that were put in place just for YOU to address. And YOU were put together with just those things in mind. I like to think of it this way: the answer to "Why am I here?" begins with "How am I put together?"

Notice that the verse says "us" and "we" - that means that you and I aren't supposed to do these "good works" alone. People tell me they don't need to go to church to be a good person. They're right. However, being part of a church gives us a context to PRACTICE being that good person.

Church, if it's designed right, should be a place where you can start discovering how you were put together. It should be a safe place to experiment with various "good works" so you can begin to experience the JOY that comes from living according to your purpose & passion.

Funny thing is, you don't need to GO to a church building or JOIN a particular denomination to act on this truth. It might be more convenient, but it's not necessary. That's because of the nature of "church" - it's not a building or a name. A "church" is a group of Jesus-followers who seek to bless and serve the people around them. So you don't need to GO anywhere! Serve others as a group in Jesus' name, and you'll BECOME one!

If this question interests you, I encourage you to check out the churches with buildings here in Weyburn. If you want to start on your own, God bless you - but keep me posted, I'd love to help.
