Activities gear up at the Weyburn Comp

Things are off and running at the Weyburn Comprehensive School with football, cross-country, volleyball and soccer underway. At the present time, there are 10 teams operating with players from Grades 8 to 12 plus a number of Grade 7 teams.

Things are off and running at the Weyburn Comprehensive School with football, cross-country, volleyball and soccer underway. At the present time, there are 10 teams operating with players from Grades 8 to 12 plus a number of Grade 7 teams.
The cast has been set for the middle years production of “Aladdin”, the choirs and bands are practicing for upcoming events.
Some SRC members are preparing to go to the Saskatchewan Leadership Conference in Tisdale or the National Student Leadership Conference in Kitchener-Waterloo. A successful welcome week took place last week along with a fantastic motivational speaker, Keith Hawkins from California.
This week marks the start of a very big fundraiser at the Comp. The community cards were distributed to the students. This is a very important fundraiser for all the activities that take place and the community is urged to support both the purchase of the cards ($20) and the Weyburn business people that make it possible.
This weekend, September 22-23, the senior girls’ volleyball team is hosting a tournament. The senior boys are in Saskatoon, the freshman boys are in Yorkton and the junior boys are in Swift Current for volleyball tournaments, while the girls soccer team is in Yorkton. The football team is hosting Estevan on Saturday, September 23, at 1 p.m. at Darold Kot Field.
