The importance of tradition and new technology was a focus during the grand opening of Agriterra Equipment, an Agco equipment dealership located at #8 Minard’s Road in the Crossroads Industrial Park.
“Agriterra started in 2013 in Stony Plain, Alta., and expanded to nine stores in western Canada. Weyburn is our first venture into Saskatchewan,” said Brian Taschuk, president and CEO of Agriterra Equipment.
“The eastern side of Saskatchewan has not had an Agco dealership for a number of years. Weyburn has a great farm economy and there is a great group of farmers in this area. We are glad to service the area and see a great opportunity for expansion for the future.”
“Our main focus is on tradition and technology,” said Taschuk. “We have a traditional dealership, where Larry Heggs, our manager here in Weyburn, is in charge of the store. Even though the store is part of a nine-store complex, there is very little head office involvement at the local level. We keep it local and traditional, but still offer technologically-advanced equipment.”
For Stan Topola, the general operations manager of Agriterra, the grand opening of the store was a nice little homecoming for him, since he was born and raised in Saskatchewan. “It is great to have an Agco representation for such a big farm base in southeast Saskatchewan.”
“I am looking forward to the growth that we are going to see, and more ventures for Saskatchewan for Agriterra Equipment,” said Topola.
According to Taschuk, they were able to find local employees for the Weyburn location very quickly. “We were able to find quality people to be our employees. It is great that the farming community has been very welcoming and receptive.”
