Duplicate Bridge report for February

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club plays on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. and on Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. at the Wheatland Senior Centre. All bridge players are welcome to come and play duplicate bridge.

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club plays on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. and on Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. at the Wheatland Senior Centre.  All bridge players are welcome to come and play duplicate bridge.

There were five and a half tables played on February 1. The Mitchell movement was used for a change.  Sitting North/South, Theresa Istace and Linda Kot were first overall, followed by Erskine Sandiford and Fred Milleker who placed second.  Sitting East/West Boyd and Marg Stewart took top honours, while Jim Brown and Reggie Frank came second.

Four and a half tables played on February 5. First place finishers were Lydia Milleker and Lucie Nickel, second place went to Boyd and Marg Stewart, third place went to Terry Bendickson and John Whitell, and fourth place went to Erskine and Mildred Sandiford.

Four tables played on February 8. Linda Kot and Lucie Nickel took first, Fred and Lydia Milleker were second, and Marg Marinos and Marg Stewart came third. Three and a half tables played on February 12. Fred and Lydia Miller finished in first place; Jim Brown and Jean Knibbs came second; and there was a tie for third place between the pairs of Boyd and Marg Stewart, and Theresa Istace and John Whitell. Four tables played on February 15. The leaders were Lucie Nickel and John Whitell, followed closely by Lydia Milleker and Marg Marinos who placed second, while Fred Milleker and Erskine Sandiford came third.

Two and a half tables played on February 19. Gord Bell and Jim Kaz had a very strong game playing at 80 percent to claim first place, while Lucie Nickel and Lydia Milleker took second. Four and a half tables played on February 22. Winners were Diane Bell and Jim Kaz; there was a tie for second place between the pairs of Erskine Sandiford and Theresa Istace, and Jean Knibbs and Marion Brown; while Gord Bell and Terry Bendickson were fourth. Ending the month, four tables played on February 26 and first place went to Gord Bell and Jim Kaz, second place went to Linda Kot and Theresa Istace, and third went to Diane Bell and Marg Stewart.
