Weyburn Gymnasts attend Yorkton Invitational

The Weyburn Gymnastics Club sent 38 athletes to the Yorkton Springers Invitation, held in Yorkton on April 21 to 22. This was the very first competition of the year for the Junior Olympic first and second levels.

The Weyburn Gymnastics Club sent 38 athletes to the Yorkton Springers Invitation, held in Yorkton on April 21 to 22. This was the very first competition of the year for the Junior Olympic first and second levels.  
In Junior Olympics level one: Reegan Chicoine won gold; Hannah Furgason, Lila Anderson, Isabelle Farrell won silver; Sophie Pollock, Avery Fleck, Sophie Heimlick, Nova Fenrick and Ryann Fleck won bronze.
In Junior Olympics level two: Peyton Lokken, Hailey Kirkpatrick and  Lana Hamel won gold medals; Karis Gerle, Evianne Wanner, Cali Blunt, Brooke Buchanan, Nevaeh Bell, Rachel Keller, Hadley Gerle, Callie Dammann, Falon Jordens, Emily Davis and Adrienne vanStaveren won silver; Lydia Bell and Aubrie Baer won bronze. The following are the Junior Olympics level three results (ages 2007): Julie Rush — vault second with a 9.225, bars seventh, beam fifth, floor fourth and All Around fifth out of 13 athletes. Alexie Daviduk — vault fifth, bars third with 8.783, beam fifth, floor seventh and All Around sixth out of 13 athletes. Jorja Skogberg — vault ninth, bars 13th, beam 10th, floor eight and All Around 12th. The following are the Junior Olympics level three results (2005 to 2006 age group): Sydney Keating — vault fourth, bars fourth, beam fifth, floor sixth and All Around fourth out of nine athletes. Tessa Daviduk — vault fourth, bars seventh, beam eighth, floor fourth and All Around fifth out of nine athletes
The following are the Junior Olympics level three results (2004 and over age): Krystal Surovy — vault fourth, bars fifth, beam first place with a 9.3, floor sixth and All Around fourth out of 12 athletes. Zoe Brooks — vault seventh, bars 11th, beam eighth, floor fourth and All Around eighth. The following are the Junior Olympics level six results (2003 and over): Elise Colbow — vault second place with a 9.133, bars fourth, beam fourth, floor fourth and All Around third out of six athletes. Abby Pratt — vault fifth, bars third, beam fifth, floor third place with a 9.183 and All Around fourth out of six athletes.
The following are the Junior Olympics level seven results (2004 and over): Kylie VanDeSype — vault second place with a 9.2, bars second, beam first with a 8.7, floor first place with a 9.283 and All Around champion. Soraya Blunt — vault third place with a 9.150, bars fourth, beam fourth, floor third place with a 8.950 and All Around third. Rilee Davidson — vault fifth, bars third, beam fifth, floor third place with a 8.950 and All Around fourth place. Madison Renner — vault fourth, bars fifth, beam second place with a 8.433, floor fifth and All Around fifth.
The athletes will travel to Moose Jaw next weekend. This will be the last competition for the Junior Olympics first and second level athletes and the last competition for the other athletes before they attend provincials in May.
Anyone that is 6 years and older by the end of December is eligible to compete. Tryouts for competitive groups will be held in May. A date and time will be released on the Weyburn Gymnastics Club Facebook group.
