Hospital Foundation to revive 1920s for ‘The Great Gatsby Gala’

Time is running out for residents to purchase their tickets for “The Great Gatsby Gala” fundraiser, which will be hosted by the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation at McKenna Hall on Saturday, February 11.

Time is running out for residents to purchase their tickets for “The Great Gatsby Gala” fundraiser, which will be hosted by the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation at McKenna Hall on Saturday, February 11.
A limited number of tickets are still available for $75. The evening is themed around a 1920’s revival and includes a complimentary photo courtesy of Jessica Hunter, appetizers, beef or chicken dinner, dessert, door prize entry, and live entertainment by “The New Montagues”. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1920’s style. Tickets are available at Pumpjack’s, Pharmasave, the Foundation Office, or any Foundation Board Member.
“Doors open at 5:30 p.m. to give guests time to mix and mingle, grab their taste of the “Great Gatsby Glow” and pose for a photo op before sitting down for a variety of appetizers followed by a catered chicken or beef dinner served by the Weyburn Fire Brigade at 7 p.m.” said Steph Schmidt, Gala Chair.
After a decedent cupcake dessert “The New Montagues”, featuring a hot four-piece horn section, will have everyone out on the dance floor with their great mix of rock, funk and rhythm and blues.
Raffle tickets for CAA Weyburn New York City Travel Voucher will be on sale all evening, with the draw taking place at 10 p.m.  The raffle tickets cost $25 each or five for $100 and there are only 250 tickets available. The prize includes airfare and a hotel in New York City for five nights, with a value of a $4,000 CAA Weyburn Travel Voucher.

The Hospital Foundation has reached their $20 million goal of a project $100 million to cover capital costs for a new Weyburn Hospital. They are now working on a secondary goal of $10 million to cover equipment costs. Towards those goals, the Hospital Foundation have approximately $21.8 million in cash and commitments. Their final goal is to raise as much money as possible, so when the province is ready to commit funds to a new hospital in Weyburn, the Hospital Foundation will be ready.
