Police investigate vehicle thefts and domestic assaults

In conjunction with the local RCMP, the Weyburn PS are investigating two files of stolen vehicles. In each case, a pickup truck was taken from the west central area of the city. One vehicle was found abandoned in the Evanston Park area.

In conjunction with the local RCMP, the Weyburn PS are investigating two files of stolen vehicles. In each case, a pickup truck was taken from the west central area of the city. One vehicle was found abandoned in the Evanston Park area. The other vehicle theft remains outstanding; it is a Green 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab pickup with a beacon light on the headache rack.

The vehicle should have Saskatchewan plate 472 ABF.


On September 5, the Weyburn PS received a call regarding a domestic dispute between a 31 year-old female and a 39 year-old male. Upon attending it was determined that one of the individuals was intoxicated. The matter was mediated with the assistance of the police.


Also on September 5, the Weyburn PS were called to a local pub at about 7:20 p.m. regarding an altercation between two people. Upon arrival, the altercation between a 33 year-old male and a 33 year old-female who were known to each other, had ended. Neither wanted to pursue charges and would not provide evidence to support the investigation.  The matter was concluded at that time.


On September 4, the Weyburn PS responded to a report of a domestic assault. As the result of the investigation, a 48 year-old male has been charged with assaulting his 50 year-old spouse.


Also on September 4, the Weyburn Police Service responded to a complaint of a domestic disturbance between a 43 year-old female and a 52 year-old male. Upon police arrival, the matter was mediated without further need for police involvement at the time.


Further of September 4, the Weyburn PS received a report of a number of young people on the roof of a downtown business. Five youth were located but were not on the roof at the time. They were warned about their actions.


Also on September 4, as a result of a traffic stop, a 17 year-old male driver was charged with driving while suspended and had his vehicle impounded.


On September 3, as the result of a complaint about a suspected impaired driver, the Weyburn PS made a patrol and located the vehicle being driven by a 40 year-old female. The driver was arrested and charged with driving over .08 as well as for being in possession of a small amount of marihuana.


On September 2, the Weyburn PS conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. As the result of the stop, it was determined that the vehicle had been recently stolen from Alberta. The 50 year-old male driver was arrested without incident and charged with possession of stolen property as well as with breach of probation.


On September 1, the Weyburn Police Service received a call regarding a 23 year-old male who was exposing himself. As the result of the investigation, it was determined that the individual suffered some intellectual challenges. He was spoken to about his behavior.


On August 31, the Weyburn PS received a call from a local business regarding a shoplifting complaint. As the result of the investigation, a 21 year-old female has been charged with theft under $5000 and will be making a court appearance.
