Weyburn basketball players Zach Olson and Jadon Cook have been busy playing on an elite hand-picked team called Doggpound, attending a number of tournaments through the summer.

Zach is the son of Cory and Denise Olson, and Jadon is the son of Art and Debra Cook. The other members of the team are from Regina, Lumsden and Moose Jaw.

The team is coached by Adam Huffman and Drew Shenk, and have attended numerous tournaments together with notable success, winning the Calgary U15 Genesis Classic and placing second in the University of Montana tournament.

In the last tournament over the July 20-22 weekend, the team attended the Gonzaga University team camp in Washington. They finished round robin play with a 7-0 record as a junior varsity team, so for playoffs they moved them to compete at the senior varsity level.

They finished with an 8-1 record after taking a loss from a very talented team from Japan.

The team will wrap up the season by competing at a national tournament in Langley, B.C., on August 8-12.
