The Weyburn Red Wings fell 3-2 to the visiting Estevan Bruins on Monday night at Crescent Point Place.

"The first period we played really good," said Coach Bryce Toma.

Shain Scheschuk scored the first goal of the night poking it past the goal line just two minutes into the game.

"We let them score twice in two minutes in the second period," said Toma, adding that defensively the team fell short in that period.

Jon Brumwell fed the puck to Tyler Borstmayer who scored the second and final goal of the game in the third period.

"I was happy with the amount offensive chances we had. They played solid," said Toma.

Prior to the game, SJHL President Bill Chow, Red Wings board chair Scott Sabados and Red Wings Alumni President Ray Erickson honoured long time Weyburn Red Wing coach Dwight McMillan with an on ice presentation.

McMillan is the most winningest coach in SJHL history, hitting his 1,000 win milestone in 2008. He started with the Red Wings as a rookie player in 1961.

The Red Wings will hit the ice against the Melville Millionaires on Saturday, January 4 at Crescent Point Place at 7:30 p.m. Weyburn won 6-3 in November, the last time the Wings met the Millionaires.

The Millionaires sit in first place in the Viterra Division with a 21-8 record while the Red Wings sit with a 12-17 record.
