Tokarz hits the ice for junior curling

Travis Tokarz is on the ice practicing for his last year in Junior Men’s curling. Tokarz started curling at the Weyburn Curling Club with Donette Tracey in the after school program at a young age.
He will move in men’s curling in the 2018-2019 season. Tokarz placed third in the province in the 2016-2017 Junior Men’s Competition.
Tokarz has put together a new team in hopes of winning Men’s Junior Curling Provincials. Tokarz’s team consists of his lead Dallas Burnett who won silver in the 2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games.
His second is Garrison Fox from the 2016-2017 season’s team. Garrison won two silver medals and two gold medals in the 4-H curling at the provincial levels. His third is Josh Boettcher who as well has won different curling events at the provincial level. The rink has a new coach, Lloyd Helm who has been involved in the curling community for nearly six decades. In 2004, Lloyd Helm as inducted into the Saskatchewan Legends of Curling.
It’s going to be a very exciting year for Tokarz, as he recently learned he was one of the teams accepted to curl in the College Clean Restoration Curling Classic, which used to be called the Point Optical. The Classic will take place September 29 with the finals on Monday, October 2.
Tokarz says the Classic will be a great experience to curl with such names as Brad Gushue, Kevin Koe, Brad Jacobs, Epping and more. Tokarz will be posting the scheduled draws on his Team Tokarz Facebook page.
