Tokarz rink advances to provincials

Team Travis Tokarz has earned a berth to the Provincial Junior Men’s Curling Championship for the eighth consecutive year. The provincials will be held in Regina on December 27 to 31.

Team Travis Tokarz has earned a berth to the Provincial Junior Men’s Curling Championship for the eighth consecutive year. The provincials will be held in Regina on December 27 to 31.

Tokarz won Team Bernath with a score of 12-6, he went on to play Team Stewart and won with a score of 11-8. The third game was against Team Dales where he won 12-9. The fourth game Tokarz fell by one in an extra end to Team Bindig. In the fifth game Tokarz fell again in an extra end to Team Kleiter when his rock fell short by 1/2” in a draw with a score of 5-4.

Tokarz then played Team Williamson and won 10-2 in 5 ends. Tokarz qualified in the first Q Spiel to earn his berth to provincials.

Tokarz started his curling career from the after-school curling program with Donette Tracey at the Weyburn Curling Rink. This is Tokarz’s last year at the junior men’s level. Next season he will move into men’s.

Tokarz tried his skills at the Saskatchewan Men’s Curling Tour at the Moose Jaw Ford Center where he made it to the semi final and lost against Team Gedak who won that championship the weekend of November 4.

Tokarz will be playing a few more bonspiels as he and his team prepares for the provincial championship. Residents can follow Team Tokarz on facebook where the games are live streamed.
