A grand re-opening of the off-leash Dog Park will be held on Saturday, September 9. The Weyburn Kins Club now has the responsibilities of upkeep and care at the dog park, after taking over from the former dog park volunteer committee in February.
“They offered the responsibilities to us first. They disbanded and we took over.
We thought it would be a good idea to change some of the signage, to let people know that we are now responsible for the care and upkeep,” stated Adrian Prybylsky, vice president of the Kinsmen Club.
A sign unveiling will be held during a grand re-opening for the Dog Park, and the celebration event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and it will feature a barbecue, with food provided by Prairie Sky Co-op. There will also be pet treat bags, provided by Pet Valu Weyburn, handed out during the event.
“This spring, we cleaned the dog park and checked all the fences. We have signed a letter of understanding with the City of Weyburn to continue on the same services that were provided by the dog park volunteer committee,” said Prybylsky.
One of the main focuses for the Kins Club is to ensure that there is a good supply of bags at the dog park, and to encourage owners to use those bags to clean up after their dog while visiting the dog park.
